Unpredictable by L_Walker_M |
| I have not read a "fantasy" novel of such caliber in a long time. I quote the word fantasy due to the fact that Martin creates an imaginary world, but the degree of politics and ruthlessness that engulfs the characters is so...modern. It is a book that is difficult to qualify, and I love that Martin is not afraid to defy composition conventions. A word of caution to those who read the book. Do not get attached to any characters because they may not survive long enough to be in the next book. It makes for a dynamic and unpredictable read. The chapters alternate perspectives, and a feature I LOVE is that time keeps going when you you are reading about someone's adventures. This style of writing allows the plotline to be constantly in motion, and very much like real life. A recommended read for those who like complex and non-linear plotlines, backstabbing, and strong characterization. |
